Galaxy Digital is a cryptocurrency merchant bank founded and run by the well-known former Wall Street icon, ex-hedge fund manager and billionaire investor Mike Novogratz. Rumor is that there will be an announcement on hiring Richard Kim as the new CEO, according to Bloomberg
Novogratz himself was working for Goldman Sachs for more than 11 years before he left Wall Street. Before his decision to turn to crypto, he has also served at the Fortress Investment Group. Currently he is one of the richest people in the space, at least that’s what many people assume. Kim was working for Goldman Sachs as Vice President and reportedly he is planning to join Novogratz’s institution soon. Kim officially left his former employer a few weeks ago, which is interesting since he was one of the few who had the chance to set up Goldman Sachs for trading cryptocurrencies.
Bloomberg reports that he is not the first one stepping away from the famous institution. Michael Bucella, another Goldman Sachs executive, left the firm to join BlockTower Capital, one of the leading crypto firms. James Radecki is another example who swapped Goldman for Cumberland Mining, a huge trading company that specializes on digital assets. Goldman Sachs PR section refused to comment so far, however it is interesting to see how people turn away from such leading financial institutions in order to try themselves out within the crypto space.
