Define Product Splintering

product splintering. The tactic and the process of breaking a single product into several smaller products, which are then sold separately.

This tactic allows you to then bundle all of those smaller products together and sell them a price that has been justified by the prices of the individual products.

To use an example used by Ryan Deiss in his Get Money From Google program, if you have an infoproduct on recycling metals, consisting of a dozen chapters, each focusing on a different metal, you can "splinter" that product into 12 smaller products, each focusing on a single metal.

If you price each of these at $17 then you can justify a price of $97 for all of them since 12 times $17 is $204.
